Vol. 69 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Turbary.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that there are over 70 tenants on the Downing estate, Aughamore, who are without turbary, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Irish Land Commission to give these tenants plots of turbary in the Barnagurry bog where there is vacant bog available.

Mr. Boland

There is no bog on hands of the Land Commission in the townland of Barnagurry, but there may be surplus turbary on bogs on tenants' holdings that can be made available for a small number of applicants, if on close inquiry it is ascertained that these tenants have a sufficient supply for their own needs.

Before the holdings of the tenants on the Downing estate are vested in them, the Land Commission will make full inquiries as to whether there is any turbary in the district that can be made available for them.
