Vol. 69 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travelling Shops.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation to deal with the question of travelling shops in regard to which a commission of inquiry reported to him more than four years ago.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that grave dissatisfaction exists among country shopkeepers owing to the competition of travelling shops, which are not subject to the regulations controlling ordinary shops and do not contribute to the rates, and what steps, if any, are being taken to implement the findings of the commission on registration of shops which reported in October, 1932.

I propose to take Nos. 19 and 20 together. As previously indicated by me it has been decided to introduce legislative proposals dealing with travelling shops.

Can the Minister say when?

I could not say at this stage.
