Vol. 69 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tyrone Man's Pension Application.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he received the applications of T. Bookless, Moy, County Tyrone, for compensation or pension as a member of the R.I.C. who resigned for political reasons prior to 1921, and which were addressed to him in 1928, 1934, and in June, 1937; and, if so, if he will state why has Mr. Bookless's application not been granted.

The only communications that have been received from Mr. Bookless are a letter of application dated 31st March, 1924, unaccompanied by any evidence in support of his claim, and a further letter of the same character dated 8th June last. He has thus failed to substantiate his claim to my predecessor in office or to submit any claim for investigation by the committee of inquiry established by this Government in 1934, which has long since discharged the functions assigned to it. No claim for pension which was not recommended by that committee will now be considered.

There is no possibility then—if he does put up whatever evidence he believes he has now—of his even being heard?
