asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state the cause of the delay in proceeding with the Cahir, County Tipperary, housing scheme; whether and when the contract for this scheme was given; if steps will be taken to have the matter expedited, and if he can state when building operations will commence.

A site of approximately five acres was authorised to be acquired for the erection of 16 houses. Owing to considerable local opposition the commissioner did not get actual possession of the site for a considerable period. A further site of approximately 7 acres was also authorised to be acquired in the present year for the erection of 30 houses. Plans were approved on the 29th ultimo and tenders have been invited for the building of the 46 houses on both sites. The tenders are to be considered on the 30 instant.
