Vol. 69 No. 7

Written Answers. - Westmeath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if and when it is proposed to acquire and divide the Murray estate, situated at Dysart, County Westmeath.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have directed that inquiries be made to ascertain the suitability for their purposes of the lands of Dysart and Barrettstown in the occupation of Mrs. Violet B. Murray, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the exact position of the Irish Land Commission in relation to the Sheridan lands, situated at Griffinstown, Kinnegad, County Westmeath.

Mr. Boland

The question appears to refer to the retained holding of the official assignee in bankruptcy (formerly Edward Sheridan), containing 581a. 3r. 6p. of the lands of Griffinstown, and 13a. 3r. 30p. of the lands of Rattin. An order for the resumption of this holding by the Land Commission has been obtained from the Appeal Tribunal and a scheme for its division has been approved by the commissioners and will be put into operation when the letting agreement now in force terminates at the end of the present year.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to divide the Ryan estate at Collinstown, County Westmeath.

Mr. Boland

A notice of intention to apply to the Appeal Tribunal for leave to resume for the relief of congestion the holding of Charles O'Connor and Robert Cox, executors of Michael Ryan (deceased), containing 121a. 1r. 18p. in the townland of Ranaghan, on the Smythe estate, County Westmeath, Record No. S.5471, has been published by the Land Commission. The application to the Appeal Tribunal will be made at an early date, but it is not possible at present to state when the lands will be divided.
