asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the the reason for the delay in reaching a decision on the application made by Patrick Minihane, Knockskeagh, Leap, County Cork, on the 24th January, 1938, for unemployment assistance; whether a decision has now been reached; and, if so, if he will state the nature of it.

Patrick Minihane, Knockskeagh, Leap, County Cork, has not applied for unemployment assistance. An application was made by him on 20th January, 1938, seeking a reduction in the weekly rate of means shown on his qualification certificate, and visits to his address were necessary to inquire into his altered circumstances. Questions arose on the report of the investigation officer which reqpuired further local inquiry. The matter will be cleared, and a decision notified to the applicant as quickly as possible.
