Vol. 71 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Sligo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the lands of Owen V. Foley, Receivable Number U. 7110, at Dromard, County Sligo, have been inspected by the Land Commission with a view to acquisition; and, if so, whether proceedings are at present pending for their acquisition.

Mr. Boland

The Deputy's question appears to refer to the lands of Derrydarragh or Oakfield of which Mr. Owen V. Foley is the registered owner. The Land Commission have no proceedings at present for the acquisition of these lands. With regard to the lands of Bunnafedia, also in the occupation of Mr. Foley, the Land Commission have had an inspection made and a notice of intention to resume this holding was published, to which an objection has been lodged by the tenant.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he can state if proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for the acquisition of the estate of Mrs. A. Doudican, Receivable Number S.7736, at Carrownabinna or Ballymeeney, Co. Sligo; and, if so, whether he can state when these lands are likely to be sub-divided.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the untenanted lands of Carrownabinna or Ballymeeney on the estate of Mrs. Alice Doudican. The owner has objected to their acquisition, and until her objection has been disposed of it will not be possible to state whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he can state if proceedings have been instituted by the Land Commission for the acquisition of the John Graham Estate, Receivable Number U.2355, comprising the lands of Claragh (Irish), Claragh (Scotch) and Rathgran, Co. Sligo; and, if so, what progress has been made, and when will these lands be available for sub-division.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have had an inspection made of the lands to which the Deputy refers and the question of instituting proceedings for their acquisition is under consideration, but it is not possible at the present stage to indicate whether or when the lands will be acquired and divided.
