Vol. 73 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Laundry (Parkgate).

asked the Minister for Defence if it is intended to close down the Dublin District Laundry at Parkgate, Dublin, on the 31st December, 1938; and, if so, if he will state the reasons; whether he has had regard to the fact that approximately 30 hands, many of whom have had 15 years' service will be disemployed; and whether those persons, in event of their disemployment, will receive compensation by way of pension or gratuity.

The Dublin District Laundry, Parkgate, Dublin, will be closed down not later than the 31st December, 1938, as the site is required for other purposes. Regard has been had to the fact that the laundry staff will be disemployed and the question of the payment of gratuities is under consideration.
