asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the names of the funds which are directly or indirectly under the control of his Department, and the amount of each such fund; if he will also state the amount of each fund invested in foreign securities and the nature of such securities.

It is presumed that the reference to "funds" in the question is to investment funds and that the reference to "foreign securities" is to securities outside Éire. The accounts of most of the funds are compiled for periods ending on 31st March in each year. The preparation of the information requested by the Deputy for any other date would involve an expenditure of time and labour which would not be justified. With his permission, I propose to circulate with the Official Report a tabular statement giving, as on 31st March last, the information he requests.
