Vol. 73 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Insurance Company Managing Director

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state (1) the name of the insurance company in which the proposed managing director of the Industrial and Life Assurance Amalgamation Company, Limited, referred to as the terminating company in the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 1938, was formerly employed, and (2) the age of such proposed managing director.

The gentleman in question was formerly employed in a professional capacity by the Prudential Assurance Company, Limited. I am not aware of his precise age.

I submit that it is the duty of the Minister to know his age. Will the Minister inquire if this man from the Prudential is in receipt of heavy superannuation from the company with which he was formerly associated?

That question does not arise.

I forgot that the Minister's Party no longer associates the word "superannuation" with old age or long service.

Neither is that a supplementary question.
