Written Answers. - Cost of Certain Imported Commodities.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the average costs during the months of January and July, 1938, at the place of importation of the following commodities, i.e., household coal (per ton), Canadian wheat (per quarter), all other imported wheat (per quarter); household flour (per sack), bakers' flour (per sack), tea (per pound), sugar (per pound).

The average values, which represent the cost, insurance and freight at the place of importation, exclusive of customs charges, were as follows:—

The average value for wheat is given per cwt., which is the unit of quantity required in accordance with the Official Import List. None of the flour imported was for the manufacture of bakers' bread or for household use.
