Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Kelp and Carrigeen.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantities and value of (a) kelp, and (b) carrigeen moss exported in each of the last three years.

As the answer contains a number of figures, I am circulating with the Official Report a statement containing the desired information.

Following is the statement:-

The quantities and values of kelp exported in each of the last three years were respectively 10,068 cwt., £3,174 in 1936; 13,685 cwt., £3,932 in 1937, and 19,909 cwt., £6,223 in 1938. The quantities and values of carrigeen moss exported in each of the last three years were respectively 8,782 cwt., £10,252 in 1936; 7,939 cwt., £8,144 in 1937, and 5,775 cwt., £6,128 in 1938.
