Vol. 76 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mail Service to Great Britain.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether any alteration in the method of conveying mails from Great Britain via the L.M.S. is contemplated; and, if so, whether he will indicate the proposed new method of conveyance.

The question of the arrangements to be adopted on the expiration, in November, 1940, of the existing contract with the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company for the carriage of letter mails between Dun Laoghaire and Holyhead, including the feasibility of introducing air services, is at present under discussion with the British Administration. A decision in the matter is not likely to be reached for a considerable time.

Do I take it that the present contract will continue until 1940?

Yes, until 1940.

Will it be interrupted before that?

I have no reason to believe so.
