The particulars available as to the cost of maintenance in county homes would not enable any apportionment of the cost to be made in the manner indicated in the question. The only statistics compiled relate to the average weekly cost per head of persons in county homes. These are published in the Returns of Local Taxation. The returns for the year 1938/39 are nearing completion.
