A tender for the carrying out of this work was accepted in November, 1939. The contractor whose tender was accepted stated in February last before the contract documents had been completed that he was not prepared to undertake the work at his contract figure. In April certain changes in the lay-out of the scheme were proposed by the consulting engineer and revised contract documents have not yet been submitted to the Department.
