Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the total number of persons who, at September 1st, 1940, were in receipt of military service pensions under the various Acts and the number of such persons then serving in the Defence Forces, and whether pensions payable under the Military Service Pensions Acts are suspended during the period of service of the persons to whom such pensions relate.

The total number of persons in receipt of pensions under the Military Service Pensions Acts on the 1st September, 1940, was 9,933, and the number of such persons serving in the Defence Forces according to the latest figures available amounted to 308. Pensions payable to persons serving in the Defence Forces are during their period of service suspended to art extent calculated in accordance with the provisions of Section 8 and the Third Schedule to the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, and Section 20 and the Third Schedule to the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934.
