Vol. 82 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business on the Order Paper in the following order: Nos. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 8, No. 2 to be taken in its appropriate place. When the business, as ordered, is completed, motions in the names of Private Deputies will be taken.

I understand that it is the intention of the Minister for Agriculture to make a statement—if you will give him leave—on the foot-and-mouth position at some stage of this afternoon's proceedings. I should like to ask the Tánaiste, if that course is pursued and it appears desirable to the House to initiate a discussion on that statement, will facilities be given for that discussion to-morrow, either by way of discussion on the Supplementary Estimate or by motion as may appear most convenient?

Before the Tánaiste answers that question, I should like to say I understood that the intention was to take No. 3 to-day, and when No. 8 was disposed of to take the Committee Stage of the Supplementary Estimates then. Deputy Dillon is probably aware of the fact that to-morrow has been set aside for the discussion of another motion.

It would be more convenient to take those Estimates after No. 8 to-night.

That is perfectly agreeable.

Do we understand that the Estimates will be taken when the ordinary Government business is completed?

And do we understand that we will not take Private Members' time to-night unless the Estimates are finished?

That is right.
