asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of industrial insurance policies taken over by the Irish Assurance Company, Limited, from the merged companies, and the total number of such policies that have been lapsed for non-payment of contributions (1) before the 1st September, 1939, and (2) since the 1st September, 1939.
Written Answers. - Industrial Insurance Policies.
Policies lapsed prior to 16th September, 1939, were not taken over by the Industrial and Life Assurance Amalgamation Company, Limited. The returns which assurance companies are required by statute to submit to the Department of Industry and Commerce do not disclose the number of lapsed policies, and I would not be justified in asking any particular company to give information beyond that required by the relevant statutes.
