Vol. 82 No. 14

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business on the Order Paper in the following order:—Nos. 2, 3 and 4— No. 4 will include Votes 63 to 68 inclusive. No. 15 will be taken at 9 o'clock.

With regard to No. 15, might I say that this motion has been under discussion already for an hour and with one and a half hours to-night, that would give two and a half hours for the discussion. In normal times we would get three hours for the discussion of the motion. In view, however, of the pressure on Parliamentary time, I would be satisfied to have a decision taken on the motion to-night at 10.30 if I am given 15 or 20 minutes to reply and if no other Deputy felt that, by shortening the discussion in that way, he was being prejudiced with regard to any remarks he might wish to make on the subject.

As the Deputy knows, the Chair has no power to limit the discussion, but the House will, I am confident, bear the Deputy's proposal in mind.

I am prepared to facilitate the Deputy in getting a decision on the question to-night.

Is it definite that the Budget will be taken next Wednesday?
