Vol. 82 No. 14

Written Answers. - Application for Entry Visa.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that Mr. J. Lynch, Corratillon, Bawnboy (reference No. EB249451) has learned a trade at considerable expense and inconvenience in order to qualify himself for a certain job in Great Britain, and that when he applied for an entry visa to Great Britain he was referred to the Minister's Department, and if he will state whether, and if so, in how far and for what reasons his Department is responsible for the delay in its being granted.

I am not aware that Mr. J. Lynch has learned a trade in order to qualify himself for a certain job in Great Britain or that when he applied for an entry visa to Great Britain he was referred to my Department. It is not the function of my Department to issue visas for Great Britain. It is the British authorities who decide whether or not an entry visa to Great Britain shall be granted and my Department is not in any way responsible for any delay which may have occurred in issuing a visa to Mr. Lynch.
