Vol. 82 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Evacuation Plans.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures if he is now in a position to explain the details of the plans for the evacuation (if necessary) of women and children from Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire Borough.

As the Deputy is, no doubt, aware, the accommodation offered voluntarily in the reception area has proved totally inadequate, being only 25 per cent. of that required. Compulsory billeting will now have to be resorted to, and the task of allotting groups from particular districts in the evacuation area to particular districts in the reception area will have to be examined afresh on that basis. Any explanatory statement setting out evacuation plans in detail must await the result of this examination.
