Vol. 83 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Bog.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to expend any money in the provision of roads and drainage to the bog on the Bolton estate at Ballinamallagh, Johnstownbridge, Enfield, in order to enable the tenants to produce turf.

This case does not appear to require action by the Land Commission. On the sale of the estate of E.J. Bolton, Record No. E.C. 8550, under the Irish Land Act, 1903, the vendor by deed of trust dated 23rd February, 1924, conveyed to three trustees on behalf of the tenant purchasers part of the lands of Ballynamallagh, containing 72 acres 1 rood 20 perches, to enable the purchasers to continue to enjoy their privileges of free turbary. The powers of the trustees under the deed include, inter alia, the power to fix according to a uniform scale the annual or other contribution to be made by each of the purchasers or their successors towards the payment of such costs and expenses as may from time to time be incurred by the trustees in the administration of the trust, including the maintenance and upkeep of roads, passways, gates, fences, etc.

Would the Minister say who the trustees are?

I shall have the information sent to the Deputy.
