asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total amount of unemployment assistance payments made in each of the months of April, May, June, July and August, 1941, and the amount of such payments made in each month in respect of the Dublin registered area.

Minister for Industry and Commerce (Mr. Lemass)

The total amount of unemployment assistance payments made in each of the months of April, May, June, July and August, 1941, and the amount of such payments made in each of those months in respect of the Dublin Registration Area were as follows. The figures are, of course, subject to audit:—

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of (a) persons with means, (b) persons without means, discriminating between (1) men, and (2) women, having applications current for unemployment assistance during the week preceding each of the following dates, viz., 26th April, 1941; 31st May, 1941; 28th June, 1941; 26th July, 1941, and 30th August, 1941, in each of the employment areas: (1) Dublin and Dun Laoghaire, (2) North Leinster, (3) South Leinster, (4) North Munster, (5) South Munster, (6) North Connacht, (7) South Connacht, (8) Ulster, and the number of others, discriminating between (1) men, and (2) women, (3) boys, and (4) girls, on the live register (including persons with unemployment insurance claims current) in each of these employment areas during the week preceding each of the following dates, viz., 26th April, 1941; 31st May, 1941; 28th June, 1941; 26th July, 1941, and 30th August, 1941, and the totals of such persons.
