asked the Minister for Supplies if he is prepared to make blasting powder available for granite quarry owners in the Ballyedmonduff, Sandyford and Glencullen areas, as they have not been granted any supplies for the past six months; and further, if he is aware that 200 stone-cutters will be unemployed in the course of the next week or two if these quarry owners are unable to procure a minimum of 70 lbs. of blasting powder per month.

The distribution of explosives to individual quarry owners is not controlled by my Department. I have, however, made inquiries, and I am informed that the quarry owners to whom the Deputy refers will obtain a limited supply of blasting powder.
