Vol. 88 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission is yet in a position to indicate when it proposes to divide the remainder of the land in the townland of Badger Hill, County Kildare, on the estate of Mr. Andrew McEvoy.

The Land Commission is not yet in a position to state when the balance of the estate of Mr. Andrew McEvoy in the townland of Badger Hill, County Kildare, will be allotted.

Will the Minister say what difficulty has presented itself in connection with the dividing of the remainder of the land in this case?

The difficulty is that no decision has been taken as to how the land is in fact going to be divided.

As the land has been in the hands of the Land Commission for a considerable time, would the Minister take some steps to expedite the division of the balance which is in the hands of the Land Commission at present? People who are desirable allottees cannot get the land, which is being let by the Land Commission.

There are great difficulties, as the Deputy knows, in dealing with schemes for land division at present.

Would the Minister hold out some hope that something will be done to expedite the division in this case where the lands have been in the hands of the Land Commission for a lengthy period?

I will look into the matter, but I cannot make any definite promise that the land will be divided at any particular date.
