Vol. 89 No. 3

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Petrol Licences.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is prepared to grant a permit and petrol supply licence to Mr. J.P. Walsh, Sutton Cross, Sutton, who has a good national record, including a 1916 award, in respect of his van Z.8408, as the withdrawal of his permit means that he will have no means of livelihood.

I have considered the application made by this trader for the continued use of his van. He is engaged in a class of business for which it is not possible, in present circumstances, to issue further permits and petrol allowances. Applications from other persons carrying on a similar business have been refused. I regret that I am unable to afford exceptional treatment in this particular case.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that Mr. J. Leonard, of Millview, Rush, County Dublin, has not received any permit or petrol allowance in respect of his lorry, Z.6270, for the month of January on account of alleged abuse of the use of his lorry; and if, in view of Mr. Leonard's explanation concerning the matter, the Minister will see his way to have the permit and petrol allowance restored to him.

I am aware that Mr. J. Leonard, of Millview, Rush, County Dublin, has not received a permit and petrol allowance in respect of vehicle No. Z.6270 for the month of January.

I have considered Mr. Leonard's explanation of the misuse of the vehicle on the 28th November, 1942, and I am not prepared to restore the permit and petrol allowance to him.
