Vol. 89 No. 3

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Censorship of Almanac.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures if he will state why copies of Old Moore's Almanac were recently seized from newsagents and others throughout the country, and later returned in a mutilated condition.

The publication in question was seized and censored because it contained matter which would be likely to cause offence to the peoples of friendly foreign nations.

Is the Minister aware that this publication was one of the most inoffensive and popular in the country, and that there is nothing worse than to deprive people of the use of such publications? Was the Minister afraid that the predictions in Old Moore's Almanac would affect the morale of our people?

Did Old Moore say when the War would end?

Was the Minister's decision affected by the fact that Old Moore forecast the defeat of the Government at the next election?

And that the stars are against him?
