asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that a scurrilous attack on the Irish language, in the form of a cartoon on the cover, appeared in the September issue of Barrack Variety; that an advertisement by An Gúm appeared in the succeeding issue (renamed Passing Variety); and whether he will withdraw all further Departmental advertisements from this journal until such time as a guarantee is obtained from the proprietors that the Irish language shall not be made directly or indirectly the subject of cartoon.
