As the Deputy is aware, public assistance is the source from which relief is afforded to persons who are not qualified to receive the assistance or benefits provided by other branches of the social services or to persons for whom such assistance or benefits where provided, are found to be inadequate. The regulations made by me contemplate that the public assistance authorities and their responsible officers shall consider each application for home assistance individually. For that reason, the statistics required by the Deputy are not available.
