Vol. 91 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Dispensary Districts.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if representations have been made to him concerning the dispensary district of Finglas and St. Margaret's, and if he is aware that it is impossible for one dispensary doctor to meet with the requirements of such a large dispensary area; and whether, in the interests of those entitled to gratuitous medical attention, he is prepared to have this district revised with a view to providing an additional dispensary district.

In the first place I may explain that the area Finglas and St. Margaret's is not a dispensary district, but forms portion of the Finglas and Glasnevin division of the North Dublin rural dispensary district.

Representations were received in my Department from the Finglas Parish Council in December, 1940, in regard to a further division of the Finglas and Glasnevin sub-district and the council were informed that the matter was one for the Dublin Board of Assistance in the first instance. The parish council subsequently addressed the board of assistance in the matter. On the 19th February, 1941, a notice of motion was given for the further division of the Finglas and Glasnevin sub-district. This notice was on the agenda for the meeting of the board of assistance on the 19th March, 1941, but was not moved.

The information in my Department as to the extent of the work of the medical officer for the Finglas and St. Margaret's area would not support a case for dividing further the present Finglas and Glasnevin sub-district.
