Vol. 92 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Municipal Inspections.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the number of inspections that have been carried out by medical and lay inspectors in the respective municipal departments of the Limerick County Borough Council, since the operation of the Limerick City Management Act, 1934; if he has received reports of such inspections; and, if so, will he make them available.

There have been numerous inspections in the City of Limerick of the public health services and of the home and hospital and of public works in the course of execution, but the expenditure of time and labour which would now be involved in ascertaining from Departmental files the precise number of these inspections since 1934 would not be justified. The reports of Departmental inspectors are made for my information as I am directly responsible to the House as Minister for Local Government and Public Health for the administration of local government throughout the country. The request of the Deputy to make such reports available could not be acceded to.
