Vol. 92 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Baldoyle Postal and Telephone Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is prepared to establish a post office and telephone service in Baldoyle village, as the nearest telephone and post office is in Sutton, which is one and a half miles away.

The Baldoyle sub-post office became vacant in January of last year. The vacancy was advertised and special local inquiries made, but, as no candidate was forthcoming, there was no alternative but to close the office. I have had the vacancy readvertised recently, but no applicants were forthcoming. In the circumstances the post office cannot be reopened. A telephone kiosk has recently been brought into use at Baldoyle.
