Vol. 92 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Money and Postal Orders from Outside States.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state that was the aggregate amount of money paid by his Department in repect of postal orders, money orders, and telegraph postal and money orders during the year 1943 where the office of issue was outside this State; and whether these orders were presented through a bank or otherwise; and if the information is not available in the form and for the period asked, whether he will give it in the form and for the period available to him.

The aggregate value of money orders, including telegraph money orders, and postal orders paid in this Administration but originating outside, during 1943, was £7,096,201. Approximately 40 per cent. of the money orders was paid through banks; a record of postal orders similarly paid is not maintained.

Answers to the remaining questions will appear in the Official Report of the Debates.
