Vol. 95 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Resigned and Dismissed R.I.C.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is his intention to include in the terms of the legislation contemplated for the raising of allowances to State pensioners the members of the R.I.C. who resigned or were dismissed during the Black and Tan conflict.

Dr. Lynch

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that under the British Government's Pensions (Increase) Act, 1944, members of the Royal Irish Constabulary who were disbanded in 1922 are about to have their pensions increased substantially, and, if so, whether he will consider increasing the pensions of the small number of men who resigned from the R.I.C. on national grounds between 1918 and 1921.

I propose to answer questions 3 and 4 together.

I would refer the Deputies to the reply given by me on 19th September to questions regarding increases in pensions. Until my investigations are completed, I am not prepared to make any statement in the matter.
