Vol. 95 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Leix Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have carried out any inspection of the Kilmaroney Estate at Athy, and whether, in view of the keen local demand for the acquisition of land on this estate, it is proposed to take steps to acquire it for division.

The question appears to refer to the lands of Grangemellon (County Kildare) and Barrowhouse and Kilmaroney (County Leix) on the Weldon Estate. The Land Commission had an inspection made of these lands some years ago and decided to take no action at the time regarding their acquisition. A fresh inspection is not practicable at present owing to emergency conditions.

Is the Minister aware that Mr. David Frame has been making arrangements about this estate within the last month? If Mr. Frame is allowed to purchase it, what action does the Minister propose to take? I want to warn the Minister that if Mr. Frame gets these lands blood will be spilled. That is a fair warning.

I do not think the Minister replied to question No. 39.

The Minister answered three questions together, Nos. 36, 37 and 39.
