Vol. 95 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take items 2, 3 and 4 and not to allow Government business to be interrupted for Private Deputies' business.

Will the House sit to-morrow?

Is there any business for to-morrow?

The Drainage Bill will carry over.

Suppose we get a good distance through the amendments is it intended to sit to-morrow?

The intention is to sit to-morrow.

Is the House going to sit next week?

We cannot sit the week after next, because it includes a holiday of obligation.

If we get through a substantial number of the amendments to the Drainage Bill and carry over a small residue, is it intended to sit to-morrow to dispose of them? Is there any other business apart from the Drainage Bill?

I do not know. The Deputy is more optimistic than I am. I do not expect that the amendments to the Drainage Bill will be completed to-day.

Then it is O.K. If we have only a small number of amendments over is it intended to sit to-morrow?

If we find that that is so at some reasonable time before the adjournment to-night, we will try to arrange with the Whips about to-morrow's sitting.

The House will not sit next week?

Does An Tánaiste know whether the House will sit or not? I hear mumblings. An Tánaiste says the House will sit but I understand that the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach says it will not. Will they make up their minds about it?

I do not think the House will sit next week.

There is a holiday of obligation the week after next.

The House probably will not meet then.

If the House does not sit next week, there will not be a sitting for a fortnight.

A Deputy has asked what hours it is intended to sit to-morrow? The provisional Standing Order says from 3 to 9 p.m.

From 3 to 9.
