asked the Minister for Supplies whether in the near future (a) it is intended to fix a maximum retail price for fish sold in this country; if so, if it is intended to fix a maximum retail price for mackerel and herrings; (b) if it is under consideration to fix a minimum price to be paid to Eire fishermen in respect of fish landed by them in this country.

The possibility of fixing maximum retail prices for fish, including mackerel and herrings, is at present under consideration by my Department in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture. It is not proposed to fix minimum prices for fish.
