Vol. 95 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundrum Paper Stores.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that two men were convicted at Dundrum, County Dublin, District Court on 1st September, 1944, of the larceny of a quantity of paper from a store at Lakelands, Dundrum, the property of the Irish Press, and if he is in a position to state whether this quantity of paper was disclosed by the firm in question when the pooling arrangement between the different newspapers was adopted or not.

I am aware of the facts mentioned in the first part of the question. The pooling arrangement between the different newspapers, which was at one time contemplated, did not ultimately materialise, and the second part of the question, therefore, does not arise. For the Deputy's information, I may say that the quantity of paper stolen was very small and consisted of flat newsprint in sheets, unsuitable for the production of the daily newspapers which use reel newsprint.

A funny place to have it stored.
