First Schedule agreed to.
SECOND SCHEDULE.

I move amendment No. 159:—

In paragraph 1, page 38, to delete in lines 37 and 38 the words "an Order made by the Minister under".

This is a drafting amendment.

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 160:—

In paragraph 5, page 39, to delete in line 23 the words "become and" and to insert in line 24 the word "become" before the words "the property".

This also is a drafting amendment.

Amendment agreed to.

We have already argued the subject-matter of amendment No. 161.

The amendment, which is in my name, reads:—

Before paragraph 6 to insert a new paragraph as follows:—

Where the services of existing officers or servants of a "dissolved body" are not required by a "transferee council or councils" such officers or servants shall having regard to their services be entitled to superannuation allowance or gratuity.

We have already discussed this, as the Parliamentary Secretary says. The point is that the local authority should have power to provide a superannuation allowance or gratuity. I do not know whether the Parliamentary Secretary has considered this matter or is prepared to look into it. Perhaps he will look into it between this and the Report Stage?

I will look into it, but I am terribly anxious not to allow people to get something to which they have no just claim.

I am with you, but supposing a man can establish a claim?

If he has a claim, he is protected. That is my point, but I will look into it further.

Amendment, by leave, withdrawn.
Amendment No. 162 not moved.
Second Schedule, as amended, agreed to.
Third Schedule and Title agreed to.
Bill reported with amendments.
Report Stage ordered for Wednesday, November 29th.
The Dáil adjourned at 7.25 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 29th November, 1944.
