Vol. 95 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Meath Estate Road.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the very bad condition of the new road on the Rosmeen Estate near Kells, County Meath, and that it is almost impassable for foot or horse traffic; if he is further aware that this new road was never properly made; and whether it is his intention to have this road inspected and put into a proper state of repair for tenants who have to reside on the estate.

The road in the townland of Rosmeen referred to by the Deputy was constructed by the Land Commission about seven years ago, at a cost of £1,179, for the use of their allottees, and no complaint has been received from these allottees as to the manner in which it was constructed, or regarding its present condition. The allottees are responsible for the upkeep of this road, as it is not the function of the Land Commission to undertake the permanent maintenance of roads made by them in connection with the division of untenanted lands.
