Vol. 95 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sugar Exports.

asked the Minister for Supplies what weight of sugar has been exported from this country under licence from September, 1939, to date.

The only licence issued during the period in question for the export of sugar in bulk was one granted on the 5th May, 1943, to the Irish Red Cross Society for 100 tons of sugar for the relief of refugees in Spain.

Is that the only sugar that has been exported?

That is what I said.

That is the only licence that was issued and sugar could not have been exported without a licence?

Sugar could not have been exported legally without a licence.

Do not look at me. I am not exporting across the Border.

The Deputy represents Monaghan.

I only represent Monaghan.
