asked the Minister for Defence if he will state (1) the number of bakers at present employed in the Curragh bakery; (2) the weekly rate of wages paid to (a) foremen, (b) ovenmen, (c) doughmakers, and (d) table-hands; and (3) the number of hours per week ordinarily worked by each baker.

The number of bakers employed in the Curragh bakery is 21, consisting of one sergeant, two corporals and 18 privates. These soldiers receive the normal rates of pay and allowances applicable to their ranks. They also receive additional pay at the following rates:—

The three non-commissioned officers and ten of the privates receive additional pay at the rate of 3/- a day. Four of the privates receive 2/- a day, and four receive 6d. a day.
The number of hours per week worked by each of these soldiers varies from 45 to 50 hours.
