Vol. 97 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dairying Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will now state the attitude of the Government towards the findings on dairying, etc., by the Post-War Agricultural Commission, as he indicated he would do in his speech on the Vote for Agriculture on 17th of May last; and if he is not in a position to do so now, if he will state when he may be in a position, as the position of the dairying industry is drifting from month to month.

The recommendations in the Interim Report on the cattle and dairying industries, submitted by the Committee of Inquiry on Post-Emergency Agricultural Policy, are, generally, acceptable. Some of them have already been put into effect and steps are being taken to implement others at an early date. I do not accept the Deputy's statement at the end of the question.

Is it the intention to make any statement in regard to the Final Report of the committee?

Not for some time.

Am I right in saying that the report has been submitted to the Government?

It has been submitted to the Minister.

Is it the Minister's intention to give the House an opportunity to discuss the Final Report?

Not this session.

Would the Minister say if it is intended to publish the report at once?

Yes, as soon as possible.
