asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that, in certain cases, flooding of lands because of defective embankments and sluices is caused by the delay of the Land Commission in carrying out the necessary repairs; and, if so, if he will state if the tenants concerned will be compensated for the losses sustained by reason of the delay.

The Land Commission are not aware of any case in which undue delay has occurred in carrying out necessary repairs on embankments and sluices for the maintenance of which they are responsible.
