Vol. 97 No. 23

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Aircraft over Dublin.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is aware of the public concern about the low flying of aircraft on recent occasions over the City of Dublin; if he will state whether the planes concerned belonged to the Air Corps of the Army; and, if not, if he will state the identity of these aircraft and whether any representations have been made to the Governments of the country or countries of origin regarding the breach of international law.

The low-flying aircraft which appeared over Dublin on the evening of the 1st July and on the afternoon of the 5th July were identified as American. The matter was brought to the notice of the American authorities and there has been no further cause for complaint.

Would the Taoiseach say if he proposes to get an undertaking from such authorities that such aircraft will not fly over our territory at any future date?

I have given a full answer to the Deputy.
