asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of Laoighis and of Offaly (a) the acreage of land already acquired for afforestation purposes in each country; (b) the area in each county already planted; and (c) the number of men engaged in forestry work during the current year in each county.
Written Answers. - Afforestation—Laoighis and Offaly.
The Department has acquired for forestry purposes 12,270 acres of land in Laoighis and 4,426 acres in Offaly. Up to 31st March, 1945, the latest date for which complete returns are available, the areas planted were 8,499 acres and 2,215 acres, respectively. The numbers of men engaged in forestry work in the counties during the year were:—
