Vol. 100 No. 6

Written Answers. - Inspections of Sandpits and Quarries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether there is a statutory provision for the regular inspection of sandpits and quarries by inspectors of his Department to ensure the observance of safe working conditions; and, if so, if he will state the number of such inspections made in each of the years 1944 and 1945 in the Counties of Dublin and Wicklow.

The Inspector of Mines and Quarries is empowered to inspect sandpits and quarries to ensure compliance with the law relating to safety. In 1944 no inspections were carried out in Dublin or Wicklow. In 1945 there were 15 inspections in Dublin and six in Wicklow.
