Vol. 101 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Extension of Summer Time.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been called to a resolution, unanimously passed at a general meeting of the medical officers of health of Éire, held in Dublin, urging the discontinuation of the extension of summer time to the winter months because of the undue hardship imposed on children and others and the deleterious effects on health; and what steps, if any, he proposes to take in this matter.

Mr. Boland

I have seen a Press report of the resolution referred to by the Deputy. Under the Emergency Powers Acts, which are due to expire next September, an Order was made each year by the Government extending summer time. I cannot yet say what powers the Government will have, or what action they will take, in the future.
