Vol. 103 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is proposed to control the price of potatoes in Dublin.

I am satisfied that the prices charged towards the end of September for potatoes in Dublin were the result of a temporary scarcity which developed in the County Dublin area due to the urgency of the harvesting operations. As the position has already improved and potatoes are again available at reasonable prices, I consider that it is not necessary to institute control of the price of potatoes in Dublin, at least for the present.

Does that indicate that the supply available will be sufficient to meet all requirements during the coming months?

I think so.
