A special recruiting drive for the Permanent Force was inaugurated on September 2nd, 1946.
The number of recruits required to complete establishments on that date was 5,363.
Between the 3rd September, 1946, and 19th October, 1946, 1,917 applicants presented themselves for enlistment, of whom 811 were accepted.
asked the Minister for Defence if he will state in respect of (a) the City of Dublin; (b) the County of Dublin, and (c) each other separate recruiting division, the number of men who offered themselves for enlistment in the Army since the new recruiting drive began; the number rejected because of lack of physical fitness; the number rejected through lack of educational qualifications; the number rejected on other grounds, and the number accepted.
